1365 FWA steering issues

Postby 68red440 » Mon Jun 17, 2019 8:09 pm

My uncle in WI has a 1365 FWA that is difficult to turn to the right, especially in warm weather. The power steering assist is under the battery tray in front, above the axle. I pulled the batteries and tried to remove the battery tray, but it appears to be welded to the radiator core support. Has anyone worked on the steering in these tractors?
Also, there is a lot of play in the steering, around 45 degrees! Maybe excess clearance in the pivot pin next to the steering pump? Or maybe it is also due to the steering assist unit?
Thanks in advance for your help!
