I have a 71 Oliver 1655, R&R rings and rod bearings, i noticed the crank doent not have oil delivery ports for the rod bearings, how does the rods get oil and how does the pistons/rings receive oil, I have stopped working on it until i have a better understanding of this for fear of damage.....
any educated help appreciated !!

Rods receive lube spray from oil gallery in the block, splash from that takes care of pistons and wrist pins. Note oil hole on one side of connecting rod and matching one in bearing shell, rods must be properly oriented during installation. Do you have shop manual? It can be ordered from, may save you a lot of grief. mains and front camshaft bearing are pressure lubed. Shop manual will have lube diagram as well as other needed info on rebuild.
