The 77 Oliver has the easiest steering without power steering of any tractor. The steering gear is a return ball steering system and requires oil and not grease, I use 90 EP gear lube. Hope this helps. DelbertText Green

I had an early 2255 with the 3150 engine I bought new in 1973. The tractor was used 21 years and had the original rings when I retired and sold out my equipment. The tractor was on the early web site along with my tiptoe 70 with ratchet lift plow. A common mistake on the oliver steering of that type is to put grease in the gear box. I would think if you scraped as much of the grease out as you can and filled with ep 90 gear lube you would be in good shape. One problem though the oil may leak out the oil seal in the bottum of the box. Hope this helps. Delbert
