1957 Paint colors

Postby drdale » Tue Sep 12, 2017 10:07 am

I have a 1957 Oliver super 88, that has been painted a few times from previous owners, and it's current color appears to be John Deere green with red wheels and a yellow grill. I would like to go back to the original, or as close as I can, and in some of my reading of Oliver "stuff" it appears that some models, especially in 1957, were painted green. Everything but the grill. How would I find out if my 57' should be all green or not?

A 57 Super will have the wide drawbar, key start, usually under the dash,12 volt in both gas and diesel and the battery cover will not be the small door as on an 88. It will be a large cover held on by 4 screws. 54 through 56 had green wheels. What is the serial number?

Don't know if this helps the situation but im confident my super88 is in its original paint (ser. # 44198, which I believe makes it an early model 57) it has red rear rims and red cast centers, with green hubs, red ring front rims with green centers and green hubs. It also has the wide drawbar tongue and key ignition under dash, but it has a small flip open battery cover.

I think the supper tractors didn't have the larger batterty door till they came out with what they call the improved suppers, which was late in the run of suppers
