I want to install a coolant filter on my White 2-180. Where do I install the pressure and suction lines to that 3208 engine?

I'd hook in where the heater lines come off to go to the cab. Essentially, I'd install the filter inline with that heater hose, then put a T that would cross to the return, and put a shut off valve in between, then T into the return. In the winter you'd close the shut off to make the coolant go to the cab, and in the summer you'd open the valve to let the coolant by-pass through the Ts instead of baking you out of the cab.

I've considered doing this, just needed to find a filter base, but never looked. Let us know what you end up using. I was thinking of using the ones for the C series Cummins engine, as I already use them on my combine.

Chris,
I talked to a Cat service mechanic and he tried to talk me into using the new antifreeze coolant instead of using the filter. They have been taking filters off when they go to the new coolant.
I am going to tee in the same places the heater is attached. I found a base and bought some nice valves from CNH.

When you say the new anti-freeze, do you mean the orange Dex-cool, or something else. I have been told the orange anti-freeze holds up much longer, and I have been switching over to it slowly but surely.

4 yrs ago I sat in a meeting at the "gathering of the ===" (oops)

and the makers of the NEW STUFF told us if we could shift over to that we would find a lot of our collant issues would clear up--- (something of a majic bullett)

only problem was it dint mix well with the old --- so mixed fleets were a probem Hence Mother Dear said they would refrain from making it standard for a while...
